Summer School 2018 will run for three weeks:

Week 2 (July 2 - July 6)


Some activities are available in the mornings, some in the afternoons and some are full day activities. Note that the Early Years program is Full Day only.

We reserve the right to cancel classes if they are undersubscribed. If this happens you will receive a full refund.

Early Years (Age 4-7) Program

Through differentiated activities, the early years summer school program assures developmentally-appropriate practice to accommodate all learners. The two week program is an excellent opportunity for children to engage in exciting, fun learning activities to further stimulate their language and social skills. The early childhood summer program is based on the PYP curriculum and is open to all students ages 4-7. The daily schedule will include music, drama, stories, physical education, and art to engage your child's interests. The focus is to provide a wide-range of language-building activities in a positive, play-based setting. Your child will enjoy exploring the many interesting learning experiences.

PYP Art Class

In this arts and crafts class, we will have fun, explore, and be creative! Students will have individual creative freedom to develop the art types they personally already enjoy. Students will also be introduced to new materials and ideas, including fast drying clay, collage, drawing, painting, paint-markers, building with glue and popsicle sticks, spray paint and large surfaces, painting clocks and printing on bags. Every day we will both have time for a structured art project, and for free-choice. The teacher will do her best to incorporate any specific wishes that the students might have for this class. This class is recommended as an all-day class, but it is also possible to join as a half-day class. The program will change week to week, so it is possible to join for multiple weeks.

PYP Dance Hip Hop

Dance Hip Hop

Week 1,2,3 mornings, afternoons or full day program

If your child loves to dance, this might be a great opportunity for them! Sign them up for Hip-Hop this summer 2018! We will be using all the classic Hip-Hop moves, from the Nae Nae to the Dougie and dancing to popular hip hop songs. We will both be dancing detailed choreographies that need practice and choreographies that are easy to follow but will get your heart pumping. There will be new choreographies every week so there is no problem with signing up for one one, two or all three weeks.

No matter what level your child is at, they will be able to take the class and learn some new moves.

This class is recommended as an all-day class, but it is also possible to join as a half-day class.

Depending on sign ups, the class might be divided by age groups, but we will do everything to accommodate so everyone can join.


The activity will take place in the dance room, 1st floor. It is important that your child has the right shoes for Hip-Hop, sneakers (PE shoes) are best, not boots or ballerina slippers. We will also be going outside to get some fresh air and hopefully enjoy some sun so make sure you have a change of shoes to go outside. Make sure they bring a water bottle and a snack to keep their energy up.


PYP New Circus

Do you want to learn the art of New Circus? New Circus is circus without animals. Here you will learn everything from plate spinning to juggling, poi, diablo, unicycling, clowning and acrobatics. Join us if you have the desire to become a circus artist or if you think this simply sounds like too much fun to miss out on! If the group is interested, we will create a circus performance for friends and loved ones that we will show at the end of the week! Here you can show off your circus skills, be the circus director or work backstage if that’s more to your taste. Another option is to learn how to make your own homemade juggling balls and/or poi.

Students can enjoy learning English through games, songs, conversation, art, reading and writing! Students are welcome to sign up for 1, 2 or 3 weeks since each day will be designed to meet the needs of those who attend.The Intensive English classes during summer school are designed for students who are new to the English language, or who have some experience with it and would like to build on their skills in a non threatening, fun environment. Students will complete the programme with developed confidence and a positive view of learning English.

Join Adventure Apps to be active with other App lovers. We will be playing on apps like Pokemon Go and Geocaching which are designed to get computer-lovers outdoors, exercising and socialising amongst one another. We will also explore other popular apps that promote moving and working together as a team outdoors in the fresh air.

PYP Movie Making

Do you want to make your own movie? Join us for a fun week with a lot of hands-on movie making. In movie making you will learn about how movies are made and how to create different effects using moving images, sound and editing. You will make your own short movie and create everything from storyline to acting, directing, filming and editing. We are filming and editing using ipads.

Participants will do a variety of sports including football, badminton, volleyball, gymnastics, yoga and others throughout the week. The focus will be on having fun and learning basic individual and team skills. The sessions will take place in the CIS gyms and outside on the playground depending on the weather.

We will play with Ozobot Robots. An Ozobot Robot is a small but very intelligent robot supporting the learning of programming. It opens the door to the world of computer science and education STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, maths) for children. It generates learning through play and experience and develops logic and algorithmic thinking. Come and join us on this wonderful journey in a world full of electricity and robotics.We will learn the basic electric circuits, connecting wires and make things move. Let’s play together and solve some logic problems.

Workshops goals :

  • Learn the basics of electricity and electronics

  • Learn about different source of energy

  • Develop social skills
  • Knowing how to building teams and share the roles in teams

Would you like to learn to sing, play guitar, piano or drums? Everyone is welcome, whether you have experience from before or not. We will decide as a group to do one of the 4 choices below:

-Write our own song and make it into a music video

-Learn to play 1-2 songs

-Learn to play 1 song and make our own instruments

Half day program - afternoon - only week 3

In Learning With Youtube we will be watching fun and creative Youtube tutorials and trying out the tasks in the tutorials. So we watch it, and then we do it after. The tutorials can vary from games, arts and crafts, to small science experiments and much more. Some examples are: How to do origami, how to make wallets from milk cartons, how to bend water, how to make slime, how to juggle, how to make play dough.Suggestions are welcome.

Monday - Team building and activities in Dyrehavn, with some possible geocaching thrown in. Nothing extra needed.

Tuesday - Rock climbing at Blocks and Walls. Nothing extra needed.

Wednesday - Mountain biking in Hareskov. Mountain bike and helmet needed. If you're not sure if your bike is a mountain bike please send me a picture of it.

Thursday - Kayaking in Christianshavn. Swim suit and change of clothes needed.

Friday - Orientering in Holte. Nothing extra needed, but if you have a compass bring it.

MYP Intensive English Program

Intensive English Program

Week 1,2,3 full day ONLY

The Intensive English classes during summer school are designed for students who are not native English speakers. The program is intended for learners who are new to English or have some experience with the language and would like to build on their language skills. The aim is to develop skills and confidence in a fun and practical manner through conversation, reading and writing. Students are welcome to sign up for one, two or three weeks since each day will be designed to meet the needs of the students in attendance. However, if there are students in the language classes who sign up for 3 weeks, then the teacher will differentiate the instructions to meet the growing skill level of students who attend daily. All students will leave this course with a greater confidence of the English language.



MYP LEGO Mindstorm EV3 / VEX Robotic System Workshop

LEGO Mindstorm EV3 / VEX Robotic System Workshop

This weeklong hands-on workshop is designed to demonstrate the basics of how a robot really works. This workshop offers a chance to learn Lego's easy to understand computer program using the simple 'drag and drop' icons to form code. The guided step by step by software shows you how to program a robot to perform precise movements, as well as how to operate environmental sensors such as light and sound.


The more experienced students with some programming background will have a chance to work with VEX robotics design system and create their own robot or follow a specific VEX program. VEX Robotic Design system is designed to expose students to STEM fundamentals within the context of building a robot. Students can apply prior coding knowledge into these lessons to advance their robot through the program.


Students can creatively make their own routines following initial instruction and work in pairs or small groups. There will be a series of challenges, dependent on ability and interest, some of the games include:

MYP Movie Making

Do you like movies? Join us for a fun week with a lot of hands-on movie making. We are going to explore different methods to get specific effects when telling a story through a lens and you will learn the basics of how movies are made. The students will create small movies in groups and make everything from script, acting, directing, filming and editing. Everyone is welcome. We are filming and editing using school ipads.

What if the kitchen could be an exciting and fun learning lab where healthy choices are made to taste great?

Let “The Conscious Chef” cooking classes help!

In the class, students will be inspired to use fresh, unprocessed ingredients to make breakfast, lunch and snack dishes. There will be one sensory class with a tasting and healthy snack at the end.

All lessons include time to appreciation, and reflect on the activity by sharing the food the created. Additionally, each class will include a useful kitchen tip to help your student better navigate in the kitchen.

The class is suitable for ages 11 upwards.

There is choice of either a half or full day course. All classes are conducted in the teaching kitchen.
